Today is Day 12 on the Camino de Santiago and I walked 17.88 miles from San Juan de Ortega to Burgos. I have included a photo of the Cathedral in Burgos. Isn’t it beautiful!
I started today’s walk at 6:30 with Philipp from Austria. We walked approximately five miles before we stopped for breakfast and waited for Julia from Germany, Astrid from Austria, Basil from London, and Bruno from Italy. We then walked to Burgos for the remainder of the journey.
On the walk with Philipp we got to see a man and his sheepdog move a herd of sheep on an open road. It was actually fun to watch. While we didn’t herd sheep on the farm in Nebraska when I was a kid, it reminded me of my favorite dog on the farm. It was an Australian Shepherd.
We also had some interesting conversations about relationships.
Tomorrow begins the first day of walking in the Meseta region of Spain. Everyone who mentions it seems to have a sense of dread. I am actually anxious to see what it holds for me.
