Prior to today's training hike I acquired the backpack, poncho, and trekking poles I will be taking with me on the Camino de Santiago. I have never used trekking poles before so it was a little awkward initially. But I walked 18.73 miles on the C&O Canal Towpath beginning at Carderock and passing Great Falls National Park, Swains Lock, and Pennyfield Lock before turning around and walking back.
